GIZ DONATES TO THE LABOUR DEPARTMENT
Deutsche Gesellshaff fur International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), on Friday 8th May, 2020 donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s) to the Labour Department, which is under the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations.
The PPEs, comprising 300 surgical nose masks and 3,000 hand gloves, were presented by the National Programmes Manager, Mr. David Mensah Tetteh on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Mr. Tetteh indicated that the donation forms part of measures lined up by his outfits to assist in curtailing the spread of the corona virus. He expressed the hope that the items would help protect Labour Officers from the corona virus in their line of work.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Labour Department, the Deputy Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Hon. Bright Wireko-Brobby, expressed appreciation to GIZ for supporting the Department and assured the GIZ that the items would be put to good use thereby ultimately protecting labour officers from the virus.
The GIZ assured Hon. Wireko-Brobby of their continuous support to the Ministry and its agencies with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE’s) as a means to strengthen their relationship with the Ministry.
Mr. Tetteh also used the opportunity to inform the Ministry that, due to the outbreak of the Corona Virus, they would not have their usual annual job fair but would have a virtual career fair. He said they focused on a virtual career fair because of the current situation facing the entire world. The idea is to alert the youth on the need to have some Information Technology (IT) skills.
